{"id":101,"date":"2014-11-29T10:53:22","date_gmt":"2014-11-29T17:53:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/discardme.com\/blog\/?p=101"},"modified":"2015-02-23T12:59:08","modified_gmt":"2015-02-23T19:59:08","slug":"interlude-sparks-of-the-anvil","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/discardme.com\/blog\/archives\/101","title":{"rendered":"Interlude: Sparks of the Anvil"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>A friend is about to commit suicide, and you must convince them not to in a lyric fashion.<\/em><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>I was not born, for I was forged in the heart of a star.<br \/>\nThe atoms that comprise me were built by the hammer and the anvil<br \/>\nThe forces of gravity, time, pressure and heat,<br \/>\nMy atoms were struck, struck, struck for millions of years<br \/>\nAnd I was born into supernova, thrown outwards as flotsam and jetsam<br \/>\nOf ancient gaseous nebulae, where I coalesced into a new star<br \/>\nAnd my very being was formed out of the nuclear fires<br \/>\nAgain and again, I was expelled by dying suns casting themselves forth<br \/>\nUntil I was finally formed into a special star, tracking out my home<br \/>\nA rock of heat and motion, a home of sky, sea, and air.<br \/>\nA chain of events billions of years in the making<br \/>\nCame to a conclusion millions of years in length itself.<br \/>\nWhich arrived to a single individual comprised of those atoms<br \/>\nBuilt within stars, long gone, a memory cast to long Time.<\/p>\n<p>Standing here before you, completely unique in every way<br \/>\nI could be considered the most special thing in the universe<br \/>\nBut I am not alone.<br \/>\nFor you are the result of the same journey.<br \/>\nI am not alone,\u00a0 for you exist as well.<br \/>\nDo not allow your uniqueness to escape without mark<br \/>\nDo not allow false notice of your passing<br \/>\nDo not allow the light of your being to be swallowed<br \/>\nBy the inevitable long dark until the heat death of everything<\/p>\n<p>Do not follow shallow reason to the precipice<br \/>\nDo not accept the consequence of losing hope<br \/>\nDo not let such a long and miraculous journey<br \/>\nOf billions and billions of years end.<br \/>\nYou are the result of the universe striving.<\/p>\n<p>To throw that away.<\/p>\n<p>To throw that away is more than morality can measure.<br \/>\nYou, too, were forged.<br \/>\nYou, too, are stronger than any circumstance.<br \/>\nYou, too, will strive beyond this.<br \/>\nFor you are a child of the universe.<br \/>\nYou are a spark of the anvil.<br \/>\nYou are life, magnificent.<br \/>\nYou are sentience, glorious.<br \/>\nYou are.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A friend is about to commit suicide, and you must convince them not to in a lyric fashion.
